Artwork & Commissions
Origami is a serene creative outlet that allows me to focus my use of precision, repetition in aim of perfection, and love of all things chromatic and spectacular.
Because this pastime is for passion and pleasure rather than profit, I do not pursue commissions fulltime, but I am open to discussing and arranging specific projects for individuals that are interested in brightening up their spaces with sustainable, unique art.
I recently spent a year creating 30 centerpieces for my own wedding reception. Each centerpiece consisted of about 20 origami flowers of varying styles and sizes, fake greenery, and a glass vase that was weighted with crafting beads and featured fairy lights as well as origami swans.
For this volume of work, I spent the better part of one year folding and assembling the decorative pieces. This was time taken outside of regular work, and so it should not be thought of as a typical turnaround time: for commission work, I prioritize a client's order and elevate it to the same level of importance as "normal work" to ensure reasonable construction times.
Centerpiece Pricing
The starting price per centerpiece is $85; however, there are numerable variables that play into total cost. For example, add-ons like fairy lights, specific vases, or varying sizes of bouquets would add to the total cost. Furthermore, the price per unit decreases based on total volume ordered. I am happy to work directly with clients to ensure their specific needs are met at a reasonable price.
For wallflowers, I generally charge $6 per magnet, though bulk pricing options are available for large orders. I maintain a stock of solid-color and patterned papers for an endless variety of possible color combinations, as well as three paper sizes: small (3"x3"), medium (6"x6"), and large (8.5"x8.5").
For any work regarding the lilies, I like to be upfront: the smaller the flower, the more intricate and difficult the folding process. The most interest I've received is in my 100+ one-inch lily pieces (pictured directly above and below), however these pieces are particularly time-consuming and therefore expensive to produce. If you are looking for a more affordable option, please consider looking at the wallflower pieces! If you are still interested in a lily piece, contact me to arrange the details.
If by some enigmatic stroke of luck the demand for origami decoration skyrockets and becomes fruitful enough, I will open my Etsy store to the public for a streamlined way to order wallflowers - until then, I will continue to fold colorful paper for the simple love of it.
