Poetry "What I have found"
You have waited and wondered why
I sat in silence, suffered, and cried,
You wanted to understand although
you thought me silly, and told me so.
I felt so isolated, trapped away,
But then you told me I could be saved.
You said you'd begin to lead me through
To brightness, happiness entirely new.
You built me up to break me down
You toiled with me, toyed me around.
I wish I could have sent you away,
You had me begging for you to stay.
I could not let go, I gripped your hand,
You were my lifeline, you understand.
I believed without you there was no hope.
How was I supposed to cope?
You took all I had with roaring thunder,
I tried to breathe but you pulled me under,
You were the victim, or so you claimed,
And all the world was who you blamed.
Spoiled and soiled, that's all you were,
And for all my worth, you left me unsure.
You bit into me, you parasite,
You flea, you leech, you stole my might.
I was cold, but I made fire,
I left you alone, the deceptive liar.
You sit there now and question why
I smile brightly at the sky.
Through all the storm, I've found I'm stronger.
And for all your presence, I need no longer.
You can build your life upon your greed,
But I've found all the strength I need.
