Thoughts & Opinions: This Day and Age

In this day and age, most everybody has the whole capacity of human knowledge available to them instantaneously on a device that fits in their pockets, yet scores of scientists and laymen alike are having to rally together to urge the government to acknowledge reason, science, logic, and fact. In this day and age, we have cures for disease and illness, technology beyond imagination, access to the lives and traditions of all societies in this world, yet it takes marches and protests to make some authorities consider the idea that perhaps they should act like decent human beings. In this day and age, human beings on every place of the scales of gender, and ethnicity, and education, have the social responsibility to care for those who cannot care for themselves, yet there are those who still cower at the idea of actively participating in the ending of suffering. In this day and age, we can have a black President while simultaneously, innocent black civilians are shot in cold blood in their own homes; we can send women into space, yet men on Earth still hold the rights to all of their uterus'; a country can be founded on freedom from persecution, tolerance, and peace for all, yet so easily a tyrant can force the last choice many refugees will ever make: dying on this shore or that one. It all begs the question: in this day and age, what the fuck is happening?
